JEDDAH —
Eight members of a terrorist cell were killed in a security operation in Qatif in the Eastern Province, the Presidency of State Security announced on Saturday.

The newly formed terrorist cell had plans to carry out terrorist operations targeting vital installations and security sites, according to a statement of the spokesman of the Presidency carried by Saudi Press Agency.

The specialized security agencies busted the terrorist cell at a furnished apartment in Sanabis neighborhood of Tarout town in Qatif at around 10 a.m.

In a pre-emptive security operation, the forces cordoned off the area and ordered the terror suspects to surrender.

Ignoring the warning, they started firing at the security forces.

In the exchange of fire, all the eight members of the cell were killed.

No one among the residents in the neighborhood or passersby or security men was injured in the operation, the spokesman added.
