BEIRUT — During a three-day visit to Beirut recently, the Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, met with several Lebanese religious leaders. He also held talks with Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Walid Bukhari.
Dr. Al-Rabeeah met with Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, the grand mufti of Lebanon, and stressed Saudi Arabia’s keenness to implement programs for refugees and other people in need in Lebanon. He also remarked on efforts to extend cooperation with Dar Al-Fatwa and governmental and community humanitarian organizations working in Lebanon.
The KSrelief supervisor general also expressed optimism about the future of Lebanon due to the commitment of the various Lebanese communities to work together to help their country move forward. He added that countries friendly with Lebanon, Saudi Arabia in particular, would continue to support Lebanon’s security and development.
Sheikh Derian praised KSrelief’s extensive efforts to meet the humanitarian needs of Lebanon and the wider Arab region.
During his visit to the country, Dr. Al-Rabeeah also met with the President of the Supreme Islamic Shiah Council in Lebanon Sheikh Abdul Amir Qablan. The two dignitaries discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation in humanitarian work.
Dr. Al-Rabeeah briefed Sheikh Qablan on KSrelief’s projects to support Syrian refugees and others in need throughout Lebanon.
He wished KSrelief every success in its work to alleviate the suffering of all in need. He also emphasized the importance of finding ways to help Syrian refugees to return to their home country.
Dr. Al-Rabeeah also met with Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian Community, Sheikh Naim Hassan, and the Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi to discuss the humanitarian situation in Lebanon. Sheikh Hassan thanked Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman for his ongoing support for Lebanon.
Following the meetings, Al-Rabeeah toured towns in Beqaa area and inaugurated a number of humanitarian projects there. — SG
