QATARI Emir Tamim Bin Hamad was the star of the day last Sunday on the occasion of the Arab summit, which took place in Tunisia. He stole the spotlight not because of his useless presence, but because of his escape from the opening session of the summit as the entire world watched.

Tamim escaped from the session and headed straight to the airport. No one cared about his presence except the president of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Ennahda movement who rushed after him to the airport trying to convince him to come back. The Arab summit went on smoothly, as if Tamim wasn’t there in the first place.

Tamim escaped from the summit after the speeches by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi and the Secretary-General of the Arab League who condemned the Iranian and Turkish meddling in the region after substantiating the accusations.

Tamim couldn’t bear this and he escaped from the summit creating a scene that will be recorded in history.

For an Arab leader to pull out from an Arab summit because two non-Arab countries that were promoting terror and instigating chaos in the region were criticized was something unprecedented in the history of the Arab League. Before this no Arab leader admitted to his allegiance to countries that are not Arab.

Tamim became a traitor and a public enemy of Arab countries as he had no control over his own decisions.

I do not know why his advisers allowed him to attend the summit when he was in such a pathetic condition. Did Tamim expect the Arab countries and the Arab League would tolerate foreign intervention in Arab affairs because it had the blessings of Qatar?

Did he think that he would be welcomed when many Arab countries suffered from terrorist organizations that were supported by his regime?

After all, what was he going to say in his speech when the Arab countries took a united stand against foreign intervention in the region? I wish the Secretariat of the Arab Summit would publish the text of Tamim’s speech if they have a copy of it, so the Qatari arrogance and audacity will be exposed to the entire world.
