AMAJOR Japanese company M. M. Corporation (MMC), a top manufacturer and supplier of premium fabrics for traditional Arabian dresses, opened its first “Thobe Showroom” on the fashionable Tahlia Street of the Saudi capital today. The newly opened outlet provides readymade thobes, innerwear, socks and other accessories for men.

Speaking during the inaugural ceremony of the showroom, Manga Mamtani, MMC’s managing director, said “the Japanese fabrics used in our thobes not only ensures top class quality but also breathable fabric with a smooth touch.”

“Our fabrics can not be copied nor produced elsewhere and can be genuinely called 100 percent made in Japan,” said the MMC chief, noting that the company’s fabric was both woven and dyed in Japan. Japan’s leading manufacturers and trading firms including MMC are among the leaders in the markets for thobe and abaya fabrics.

“MMC has established a brand called FURSATO to provide genuine made in Japan readymade thobes and other products with highly specialized technology which we believe will be new to Saudi Arabia and enjoyed by all who try them,” Mamtani added.

For example, “the showroom has a unique undershirt utilizing a special yarn called Outlast (technology originally for NASA in the USA) which helps keep the body comfortable by storing and releasing heat depending on the temperature with the slogan “Not too hot, not too cold.” Also, we offer special socks, which contain approximately 43 percent Japanese paper yarn to keep the foot cool, comfortable and sweat-free,” the MMC’s chief said.

Spelling out the features of Japanese fabric and menswear, Mamtani said his “Osaka-based manufacturing unit has teamed up with Saudi Arabia to set up FURSATO to produce and sell only the finest Japanese products.” FURSATO, he said, has an ambitious expansion plan under which it intends to open 20 stores within next two years in different parts of the Kingdom.
