Real Kerala stuns Blasters in opener

JEDDAH — The second Elite Blasters Soccer League 2019, organized by Blasters FC Jeddah, got off to a flying but stunning start at the Jeddah Hilal Shyam Stadium here Friday.

The Super League match produced the stunner as Printechs Real Kerala, rallying by a goal early goal in the first half to an much-expected hosts Elite Blasters FC kept fighting and pulled off an upset by pumping in thrice in the last eight minutes for a 3-1 win.

Hundreds of football fans turned up for the opening day ceremony and the tournament was inaugurated by Jeddah National Hospital Chairman VP Mohammedali with prominent singer from Kerala, Kollam Shafi, as the chief guest.

Elite Blasters took the lead in the first half through its iconic player Jegeesh. On resumption Real Kerala kept on attacking and Ramees scored a brilliant goal to level the score. Experienced Real Kerala pressed hard scored another two goals through Towfiq and Ajnaz. Sirajuddin was named Man of the Match for his exceptional performance.

In the B Division opener, FC Kuwaisa defeated Blue Star Seniors (IT Soccer) 2-0. Basheer and Mujeeb Rehman scored for the winner. The Man of The Match was awarded to FC Kuwaisa’s Basheer.

In another match of B Division, Blue Star A crushed Friends Blasters 4-1. Star striker Akbar scored twice, while Mohammed Riyas and Abdul Nabeel completed the tally. Abdul Nabeel of Blue Star A was adjudged Match Match.

On Friday, SIFF champion Al-Rai Water ACC takes on Asian Times Friends Jeddah in the Super League. In B Division FC Kuwasa meets United FC. In another match, Talent Teens faces Sporting United in the Under-17 category. Matches will begin at 7.00 p.m.

Al-Abeer Deputy Chairman Dr. Ahmed Alungal, Saudi Indian Football Forum (SIFF) President Baby Neelambra, Jeddah KMCC Chairman Nizam Mambad, Salim Mampad, Nijam Pappatta, Salim PR, Ismail Kallai, and Rahim Othukkal graced the occasion.
