Star shines in Saudi karate meet

JEDDAH – Star International Martial Arts Academy sparkled in the first Saudi National Karate Championship for Under-13 girls recently. Seven girls from Star won 11 medals in total — 2 gold, 2 silver and 7 bronze — in the championship which saw over 100 karatekas vying for honors from different clubs in Saudi Arabia.

The kata gold medal was won by Renad Munasar, while the sparring (kumitte) gold went to Areej Ubaid.

The kata and sparring silver medal was won by Mehek Saleem, while under-11 sparring and kata bronze was won by Shaza Fasahat. The bronze medal (4th place) for kata was won by Madiha Mahmood. Muneeza Irfan and Alishah Akhtar Khan bagged bronze medal for under-6 years category.

Master Mohammed Ishaq, (black belt, 7 Dan) chief coach of Star International Martial Arts Academy, said that it is a big achievement for him and the academy that for the first time, the students of the academy performed very well and won so many medals.

Saudi National Karate Championship was held at Asia Martial Art club in Jeddah. Grandmaster Hafiz Mohammed Salahuddin Jaweed congratulated from Hyderabad all the winners.

Dr. Ibrahim Bin Muhammed Alqannas, President of the Saudi Arabian Karate Federation, felicitated all the winners. — SG
