Labor Ministry announces programs to develop non-profit sectors

RIYADH —
The Ministry of Labor and Social Development announced the launching of 45 development initiatives in various fields to enhance the scope of social programs and develop the non-profit sectors linked with the empowerment of citizens.

This will be through the partnership of the government and private sectors in implementing various empowerment programs, improving their effectiveness and enhancing capabilities of those associated with these initiatives, the Saudi Press Agency reported quoting the ministry sources.

The ultimate goal of the initiatives is to achieve social integration in line with the National Transformation Program 2020 and Vision 2030.

According to the ministry, 10 of these initiatives will be launched within the coming two months. These include social development program for various regions, model homes for orphans, the National Volunteer Portal, social responsibility partners, social responsibility ambassadors, social responsibility observatory, the ISO 26000 specifications, and support for the establishment of community service associations and institutions.

With the launch of these initiatives, the ministry aims to promote the development of the non-profit sector and to empower and promote its organizations as a systematic institutional work with a sustainable impact in order to achieve social and developmental returns.

Through its initiatives, the ministry affirms the importance of community participation and its strength in the development of the local community and its impact on increasing the cohesion of society, raising the capabilities of its members and providing them with new skills and developing their personalities.

The ministry also strives to confront the challenges in various fields by increasing cooperation and coordination between various parties related to the development process.
