JEDDAH — Mahd Al Uloom International School Jeddah (MISJ) always lays a special prominence for the holistic developments of its students. In its pursuit of molding a vibrant future youth with unique leadership skills, MIS launched a youth leadership program (YLP), which began from December 2018 to February 2019 under the aegis the Toastmasters Club Division H, District 104, and Jeddah.
The Program had eight sessions and the students from class 7 -10 were the participants. The phenomenal design of the YLP program included regular meetings, workshops by Expert Toastmasters, mock contests and special coaching sessions where the Youth leaders learned the skills of public speaking and leadership skills.
With a tireless and rigorous three-month long practice under the stewardship of connoisseur Toastmasters, the youth leaders mapped their way ahead for a grand finale held at the school auditorium on Feb. 9 .With a reinvented and rejuvenated ambience the youth leaders sparkled at the grand finale.
The entire program was spearheaded by the Toastmasters Siraj, TM Ashraf Meleveettil, TM Sheikh Mohideen, TM Ashraf Aboobacker. The event was graced with august presence of honorable Directors of school Abdu Rauf , Abdu Raheem, Mujeeb AR Nagar and the Operations Manager Yahya Khaleel Noorani.
The event began with a recitation of verses from the Glorious Qur’an by Yassir Abdu from class 8. The event comprised three speech contests; Table Topics Speech Contest, Speech Evaluation Contest and Prepared Speech Contest. The event had a flying start with an incredible Target Speech of Sahal from Class 9 who mesmerized audience with his profound vocabulary and diction.
The participants enthusiastically took part and enthralled the audience with their unmatched oratory skills. The neck and neck competition of the contestants with their mind-blowing performances perplexed even the judges to determine the real winners.
At the end of the event, the best speakers and their Toastmasters were honored with trophies and certificates by the honorable directors of the school. In the Prepared Speech Contest Category Hussen Johar Qasem won the first place, Rafay and Abdullah Abdulqayumkhan Sardarali bagged the second and third places respectively.
The top three winners of the Table Topics Contest Category were Wael Bahjat Ahmed Mohammed, Abdullah Shams and Waleed Iqbal. The winners of the first three positions in the Speech Evaluation Category were Saeed Fahd Saeed Banwair, Badar Ahmed Bin Salam Bin Mahfooz and Abdullah Shams.
Dr. Firoz Mulla, principal of the school, congratulated the best speakers, all other youth leaders and thanked everyone including the parents who were present on the occasion.
The parents expressed their immense gratitude towards the authority for organizing such an event which could nurture and foster the inherent talents of their children. The parents further opined that the meticulously well organized program paved the way for a transformation in their children’s communication and leadership skills.
Mansoor Ali, Marakkar, Akbar Ali, Sihab and Shoukath Ali were present on the occasion. The program came to close with the singing of the national anthem. — SG
