RIYADH — As many as 50 films will be screened at the Peace Prize for Short Films Competition of which the winners will be announced in Riyadh on Sunday. The competition will be held on the sidelines of the two-day Saudi Salam (Peace) Forum.
The competition is being organized by the Salam for Cultural Communication Project with the objective of encouraging talented youth and those interested in the film production on YouTube. This is part of promoting the concepts of coexistence, mutual respect, and building bridges of cultural communication with others, especially between the foreign scholarship students and the people of the countries where they are pursuing their higher studies, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The competition aims at encouraging the young Saudi men and women to discover their talents in the field of short films and enhancing their communication with the issues that are of concern to the homeland as well as to support them to present themselves in a way that highlights the nature of the Saudi society and its human, social and cultural values.
The competition will promote the spirit of mutual dialogue and stimulate the exchange of experiences to promote coexistence among different cultures, as well as establish the principle of mutual respect among peoples and present the best dialogue practices among different cultures so as to enhance the Kingdom’s positive image abroad.
