RIYADH –
Mohamed Al-Halbousi, speaker of Iraq’s Council of Representatives, praised Saudi Arabia for its support to Iraq in its war against terrorist organizations, especially Daesh.

“Iraq has overcome a difficult phase thanks to the support of the Kingdom, which contributed to the expulsion of Daesh from many regions and cities of Iraq,” he said in a press briefing after meeting his Saudi counterpart Sheikh Abdullah Al-Asheikh.

He stressed the need to further bolster bilateral relations in various fields.

The speaker also highlighted the strong historical, geographical and cultural interdependence between the two countries.

Al-Halbousi sought the Kingdom’s major role in the reconstruction of the war-ravaged country.
