Showcasing extreme high voltage tap dance and rugged, raw talent, Dein Perry’s multi-award-winning Tap Dogs continues its thrilling international tour in Saudi Arabia.
The show’s first performance in Saudi Arabia takes place in Riyadh, following its opening season in South Africa, and before its long-awaited return to the UK.
The production landed at King Salman Hall in Riyadh Schools to perform Oct. 4 to 19, before continuing its journey to the UK, China, and the US.
The production headlines the Cultural Heritage Festival organized by Glory Events and Tours. The festival is presented by Ambassador of Hip-Hop, Qusai. The event also includes the famous Popular Heritage Troupe performing the national Dahha.
The extraordinarily talented cast of Tap Dogs features dancers Nathan Beech, Nathaniel Hancock, Reid Perry, Richie Miller, Sam Marks, Anthony Russo, Justin Myles and Chaise Rossiello.
Together, the performers have over 50 years’ experience dancing as part of Tap Dogs, with their collective accolades including a performance at the World Masters Games Opening Ceremony (Perry) and an appearance in the animated film Happy Feet 2 (Hancock).
The dancers are joined onstage by two high-energy percussionists, Catarina Percinio and Noriko Terada. Percinio, a performer with Tap Dogs since 2013, received a scholarship for study at São Paulo State University (UNESP) and has a master’s degree from Federal University of Goiás, while Terada is internationally known for her percussion recordings with the world-popular video game series, Final Fantasy.
Winner of over 15 international awards including an Olivier Award, an Obie Award (New York) and a Pegasus Award (Spoleto Festival in Italy), Tap Dogs has appeared in over 330 cities on six continents and has been seen live by over 12 million people.
A worldwide television audience of over 3.4 billion saw 1,000 Tap Dogs performing in the opening ceremony of the Sydney Olympics in 2000.
Part theater, part rock concert and part construction site, Tap Dogs is Australia’s most successful theatrical export. — SG
