JEDDAH — Defending champion Casadores II declared its readiness for another title run, claiming its second straight Vertex Solutions Team of the Week award and wresting the lead from Crime Busters during the sixth week in the OFBC (Overseas Filipino Bowlers Club) Friday Afternoon League Season 9 at the Iceland Bowling Center.
Casadores II totted up the highest total of 34 points at the end of the session even as the NC Fantastic Bowlers in one of their good showings yet finished second to Casadores on 32 points.
Season 7 titlist RTJ Baguio Transient House was four points off the pace on 30, half a point ahead of Crime Busters who failed to keep the lead on 29.5 points.
Spareshots, who had led the tournament prior to Crime Busters’ one-week swing at the top, returned 28 points, D’ Splinters tallied 21, SGH Bowling Group 20.5, Spare Busters 13 and Forever Living Dynamics 8.
Vilma Miranda of Crime Busters and Spareshots’ Edwin Agustin emerged as the Vertex Solutions Bowlers of the Week — Miranda shooting 555 and Agustin carding the high handicap series of 563 in becoming the top individual performers on the day.
Team captain Ed Cordova was again on the money for Casadores, firing the top score of 529 followed by Edilberto Labuac 514 and Tope Sayson 511.
Farida de Guzman and Fatima Jintarat rounded out the Casadores scoring on 471 and 422.
Skipper Nap Patayan took charge at Fantastic Bowlers with his effort of 515 that went with the 505 by Gary Raymundo, 480 by Jess David, 468 by Aisah Silabay and 463 by Susan Patayan.
The duo of Rico Bulalayao and Cesar Pagtalunan shot 531 and 515 at the helm of Baguio Transient House looking for a breakthrough Team of the Week victory. The other scorers were Jack Jarin 491, Darlene Bulalayao 469 and Malou Nidoy 420.
Over at Crime Busters Rayan Latigo put together 534 to back up Miranda while Mildred Florentino, Lito delos Reyes and Jhun Ejanda added 487, 450 and 403 in that order.
Rose Agustin made it a husband-and-wife team at the forefront of Spareshots with a 508 to complement Edwin’s 563. Another husband-and-wife team of Alex and Carmen Duma contributed 467 and 463, while Jose Antonio Bayag tossed in 411.
For Splinters it was Andrew Ociones that led a five-man team rotation on 518. Richard Junio had 480 to go with the 472 by Amy Mercado, 471 by Randy del Remedios and 413 by Joseph Catulong.
SGH drew the leading score of 508 from Dan Garrett Mojares in a six-man rotation that featured 494 from Shaid Salvador, 432 from Dr. Mirna Saen Moustafa, 403 from Dr. Mohammed Khattab, 280 from Usop abinal and 194 from Gamal Matanog.
Playing on adjacent lanes, Spare Busters and Forever Living Dynamics had Jaime Flores and Teresa Hanopol hitting 477 and 460 respectively to lead their teams in the event sponsored by Vertex Solutions headed by Mohammad Ibrahim Al-Harthi and Dia Jamal Eddin.
