JEDDAH
— Delayed for some reason, the June leg of the OFBC (Overseas Filipino Bowlers Club) monthly series finally took place with Ed Cordova and Vilma Miranda going from podium finishers to Bowler of the Month in the men’s and ladies divisions, respectively, at Iceland Bowling Center.

Class A bowler Cordova, with a 4 pins handicap per game, claimed his breakthrough victory from Class B Rico Bulalayao who unlike Cordova was still to become a champion despite his consistent podium finishes.

Third runner-up in the January tournament, Cordova rolled a three-game series with handicap of 523 pinfalls to edge out Bulalayao who returned 519 at first runner-up.

Cordova carded scratch games of 156, 184 and 171 while Bulalayao shot lines of 149, 159 and 187.

Class C Ryan Latigo was second runner-up three pins back on 516 (166, 149, 165) while beginning bowler Andrew Ociones claimed the third runner-up spot by tiebreak from veteran Nap Patayan after both players tallied 509.

On the distaff side, Miranda had it easy with her effort of 519 built around games of 139, 134 and 150, as she improved on her third runner-up finish in March.

Imelda Flores was a distant first runner-up on 486 (119, 120 and 127). Carmen Bernardo was a further 13 pins back at second runner-up on 473 (139, 115 and 147) while Aisah Silabay rounded out the first four winners on 452 (131, 125 and 172).

At the halfway mark of the series that culminates in the Bowler of the Year Finals in December Rodel Tacson and Farida de Guzman were the only repeat winners having won in February and April and January and February, respectively.

Prizes were handed out to the winners during the prize distribution ceremony at the end of the competition.
