Saudi King hopes Afghan ceasefire reached during Eid will be extended

JEDDAH – Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman expressed hope that the truce reached by the Afghan government and Taliban movement during the Eid Al-Fitr days would be extended for a longer period, Saudi Press Agency quoted a statement from the Royal Court as saying on Wednesday night.

King Salman added: “The Afghan people, who have suffered greatly from the wars, are looking forward along with the Muslim World to forget the past and turn a new page based on forgiveness, reconciliation, rejecting violence and protecting the lives of innocent people on the basis of the teachings of Islam." -- SG
