2 killed, 26 hurt as bus crashes into truck

MAKKAH
— A bus carrying 50 passengers collided with a truck on Al-Quaiyyah Road near Jamoum in Makkah Tuesday morning, killing two people including the bus driver.

Civil Defense spokesman Maj. Naif Al-Sharif said the bus driver's assistant was also killed. He said 26 other passengers from an Asian nationality were injured in the accident and were rushed to various hospitals in Makkah for treatment.

The Civil Defense sent rescue teams with steel cutters to the accident scene after receiving information the passengers were trapped inside the bus, Al-Sharif said.

The spokesman said with the help of teams from the Health Affairs and Saudi Red Crescent Authority, a medical evacuation area was established where the injured were given first aid.
