JEDDAH — Aziziah Stars prevailed over hosts Friends Republic Club (FRC) in a thrilling marathon five-setter 3-2 (26-28, 25-23, 25-13, 21-25, 15-14) to clinch the title in the FRC Volleyball Fest – 2018 at the Bani Malik Stadium here recently.

Monty of Aziziah Stars was adjudged as the Man of the Match.

Navodaya President Shibu was the chief guest on the final day along with prominent members of Indian community in Jeddah.

The first volleyball tournament, organized by Friends Republic Club, saw 14 teams in action.

MMA Advertising Company sponsored the trophies.

After the preliminary league matches Azizia Stars, FRC, Cedar and JVT qualified for the semifinals. While Aziziah Stars defeated Cedar 3-1, FRC blancked JVT 3-0 in the semis.

FRC President Johnson and Patron Jolly Paul presented the winner’s trophy to Aziziah Stars captain Iftikhar.

FRC executive member Imran Keyi thanked all the participating teams, sponsors and volleyball fans for their love and support of the tournament. — SG
