Experts discuss hematology breakthroughs

— Hematologists from around the Kingdom, Arab countries and GCC gathered in Jeddah to discuss the latest breakthroughs in blood disorders research at the 16th annual meeting of Saudi Society of Hematology held in conjunction with the 7th Pan Arab Hematology Association.

During the two-day conference, 74 experts discussed the most significant research abstracts, advances and challenges in hematology and how to improve the care of hematology and oncology patients by updating care-providers about the new developments in the field.

The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Abdullah Ba Fael, deputy president for business and creativity at King Abdulaziz University( KAU) on behalf of Prof. Abdulrahman Al-Youbi, president of KAU with the attendance of Prof. Mahmoud Shaheen Al-Ahwal, dean of Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Soad Al-Jaoumi, president of Saudi Hematology Society and Prof. Mohammed Qari, president of Pan Arab Hematology Association.

According to Prof. Al-Jaoumi, head of the organizing committee, the conference provided an innovative and comprehensive platform for presenting the latest research and developments on concepts related to healing, prevention, and treatment of hematology diseases and improved quality of life.

She also added that the conference recommended the need to emphasize the importance of providing diagnostic and treatment opportunities for people with blood diseases and also to provide an opportunity to young doctors to participate in scientific research and open prospects for cooperation between blood centers in diagnosis and treatment within the integrative programs that offer the best treatment opportunities.
