IISR holds sports day for primary section

RIYADH — The International Indian School, Riyadh I-V Boys’ Section organized a sports meet recently. To set the mood flags of various colors adorned all the four sides of the big playground.

The Sports day started off with the welcome song. Nearly 100 children from the school choir delivered a stirring rendition of the inspiring Sports song ‘Go Win ‘.

Head Mistress Ms. Susan Vetteel delivered the welcome speech. The games were formally declared open by Managing Committee Chairman Dr. Dilshad Ahmad Khan. This was followed by oath-taking ceremony and the release of the colorful bunch of balloons.

The Chief Guest Ms. Salma Khan, retd. principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Indore, lit the torch and four young athletes from each house took a round of the whole schoolground bearing the torch. This was followed by the vibrant march past led by the captains of respective houses which demonstrated the vitality of the young students.

The festivities began in the schoolground as various drills were performed and the whole schoolground was transformed into a grand dance floor. Hundreds of children enthralled the audience with a spectacular display of ribbon drill, flower drill, aerobics and roller skating.

Salma Khan, in her address, shared her thoughts about having a balanced diet and urged the teachers to motivate the students in order for them to find out their hidden talents.

Dr. Shaukat Perwez, principal & HOI, gave a speech highlighting the importance of sports in our life and also expressed his thanks for the valuable contributions made by all the physical education teachers and the other teachers who had helped to make a successful and memorable sports day for IISR.

The day came to an end with the prize distribution and vote of thanks. — SG
