JEDDAH — The Memon Welfare Society (MWS) Jeddah organized its 6th annual awards and certificates distribution to meritorious students of the community at Al Shallal Park Auditorium.

M. Amin Al-Maimani presided over the function. While Yaqoob Al-Maimani from Makkah attended as chief guest.

The first Memon female pilot and second Saudi pilot Ms. Yasmin Yousuf Al-Maimani, Abdul Aziz Ismail Sait, owners Surati group of companies, and Adnan Ismail Sait were the guest of honors.

The function began with recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by young Hafiz Mohammed Ahmed Kamal Makki. Naat was recited by Ahmed Irfan Kolsawala and thereafter, a poem of DUA was sung in chorus by Anzalna Jawed Ashraf Kherani, Arafah Irfan and Umaima Rafiq.

Kolsawala, president MWS, welcomed the guests and thanked them for attending the event. He appreciated the hard work of Ahmed Kamal Makki, Jawed Kherani, Owais Rawani, Siraj Lala, AQ Teli, Saadiq Sorathia, Siraj Adamjee, A Kader Africawala, Rashid Kasmani in order to make the event a success.

Tayyab Moosani, secretary general MWS, presented a detailed report on the social and welfare activities of MWS. He said the event was being held to recognize school students, who have achieved more than 90% marks in their annual examination. He also said that they are being encouraged with an outstanding award and with a gift.

He further said that recipient of the award included male and female meritorious students of grade one to university graduates, who have secured outstanding positions in their examination held in 2017. There were not only doctors, engineers, chartered accountants, master degree holders but outstanding students of A-Level, O-Level were awarded. Winners who were presented prizes included 4-5 male and female Hafiz-e-Quran who completed Hifz-e-Quran during this year. They were also encouraged with awards and gifts.

Moosani said, “We are also thankful to the sponsors of the event who supported us generously and sponsors of the gifts, which we distributed to each and every student, and all families who attended the event.”

Sponsors included Iqbal Advani, Mohammed Badi, Younus Habib, Fayyaz A Kader, Fouad M Chapra, Irfan Kolsawala, Ismail Menda, Tarek Al Madani.

Captain Yasmin Yousuf Almaimani (pilot) briefly addressed the gathering and shared her experience as to how she achieved the goal of her career, what efforts and struggle she had to go through to become a pilot, especially being a working lady in our this society.

The audience appreciated her views and her advice of self determination to the students to make their career in the profession of their choice.

The honorable guests distributed awards, plaques of appreciation, prizes to the meritorious students, complimentary gifts sponsored by various companies & businessman to almost 400 male and female attendees of the event. They also congratulated the students, who received awards, and advised other students to work hard to stand among award recipients next year.

Younus Habib gave vote of thanks. Program was conducted by Wasim Tai, Ismail Menda, Shoaib Sikander.
