JEDDAH — No more heavy rain is expected in Jeddah which will witness only light drizzles in the coming few days, according to the General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection.

The meteorology authority was responding to rumors that heavy rains will lash Jeddah again early Monday.

“There will not be more than a light drizzle in Jeddah if any. There is no need for residents to panic,” said Ayman Ghulam, deputy chairman of the meteorology authority.

He asked residents not to pay heed to rumors on social media and urged them to take news from original source which is the meteorology authority’s website.

Ghulam said the authority monitors the weather around the clock using the state-of-the-art technology.

“We circulate the latest weather forecast on Twitter and other social media platforms using infographics to make it easier to understand,” he said.

The deputy chairman said rains are expected in Tabuk, Al-Jouf, Hail, Qasim, Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Makkah (the coastal areas) and Madinah.

He also said the temperature will remain moderate in Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam.
