JEDDAH — The 2nd Football League for Al-Murjan Group of Companies got underway at Al-Kaki soccer ground here recently.
The annual competition brings together six internal companies — Al-Muftah, Al-Kawther, Ittihad Al-Murjan, Al-Murjan Private, Al-Ahbar and Al-Mafroshat.
Al-Muftah thrashed Ittihad Al-Murjan in the opening match 12-2, thanks to 6 goals from Osama Batiah to be on top of the score sheet.
In the second game, Al-Murjan Private got off to a flying start with a convincing 6-2 win over last year’s title holder Al-Kawther.
In the third match, Al-Ahbar blanked Ittihad Al-Murjan 7-0.
Jubarah Al-Jihani, head of the organizing committee, said: "Al-Murjan employees work extremely hard and we also want them to enjoy and experience an excellent Al-Murjan culture, which includes having fun and building a winning spirit.
"Based upon the success of the first tournament last year, the company decided to make the event an annual affair," added Al-Jihani.
Tournament winners will receive medals and cash prizes.
