YANBU – A man here has accused doctors at Yanbu General Hospital of killing his mother after an operation to have her toe amputated. The son said his mother had suffered a toe injury two years ago.

Her condition had improved after being treated by doctors at the Armed Forces Hospital and a private hospital in Jeddah. “After a while, her toe started to swell. I took her to Yanbu Royal Commission Hospital where doctors said she needed to have her toe amputated.”

However, his mother insisted that she wanted to be treated at Yanbu General Hospital instead and the son agreed.

“The doctors neglected my mother,” the son alleged. “They left her for five days in the ward until her condition deteriorated and doctors rather than amputating her toe performed some weird surgery under her knee.”

“My mother, he said, is not the first victim of such medical negligence. I’ll file a complaint against the person who was responsible and hold him accountable in the court of law,” he said.

The deceased was buried on Monday afternoon.
