JEDDAH — A schoolteacher in Jeddah has launched a social campaign with the participation of about 50 female students to bring home to children the significance of any field of activity in a productive society.

The campaign, titled "We are all on one side," started in one of the schools in Jeddah aiming to enhance awareness about society among schoolchildren and to teach them how to be productive in any field or any side they choose.

The campaign, which will continue for a whole year, also discusses several social issues, including how to avoid negative attitudes and create a powerful society.

Speaking about the campaign, its founder Najah Alsulami, a history teacher, said the idea came as a result of patriotism of the group members and their love for the country.

She said, “This initiative has also an online campaign on Twitter under the account @klna3la7d. It includes several school activities including story writing about productive people and creating cartoon characters. It also includes workshops and discussions to train girls how to deal with rumors and stereotypes about Saudis in social media as well as to teach them how they can be productive in any field they pick.”

Alsulami explained that the campaign contains radio programs and school visits. Several art activities are part of the campaign. These include paintings and drawings depicting the dangers of discrimination in society and among students, as well as making wall and magazine boards that highlight social issues.

“We are going to visit two schools soon in Jeddah, so they can implement the idea. The campaign will have a positive impact on students since it draws their attention to the importance of any field, and how every job and activity that a citizen does have a positive effect on society. Even the housewives have an important role. Today students have a greater desire to participate and learn more about these topics and be more creative by taking part in the campaign,” she said.

"What makes this campaign distinguished is its presentation, implementation and continuation to reach the hearts of as many people as possible," Alsulami said.
