WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Brian Elliott made 31 saves for his second consecutive shutout as the Calgary Flames extended their winning streak to nine games with a 3-0 victory over the Winnipeg Jets Saturday.

Mikael Backlund and Michael Frolik each scored on the power play as the victory also gave Calgary points in 11 straight games.

The Flames also jumped in the NHL standings. Their 80 points tied them with Anaheim, but Calgary moves into second place in the Pacific Division because they have three more wins than the idle Ducks.

Alex Chiasson also scored, while Frolik added one assist and Dougie Hamilton, a game-time decision, had three assists.

Penguins 3, Canucks 0: Ian Cole scored in the second period and Matthew Murray stopped 27 shots as Pittsburgh extended its winning streak to five games.

The shutout was the fourth of the season for Murray and fifth of his career. One of his best stops was a glove save off a Henrik Sedin shot early in the third period. Jake Guentzel and Connor Sheary (empty net) scored the other goals in the final stanza.

Kings 4, Capitals 2: Adrian Kempe’s first NHL goal proved to be the game-winner in the third period and Anze Kopitar added a goal and an assist as Los Angeles defeated Washington.

The Kings won their second straight game to remain three points behind St. Louis for the second wild card berth in the Western Conference. Jonathan Quick stopped 17 shots.

Senators 4, Avalanche 2: Craig Anderson stopped 14 shots to become Ottawa’s all-time wins leader, and Alexander Burrows and Mike Hoffman had a goal and an assist apiece to help Ottawa move into first-place tie in the Atlantic Division.

Frederik Claesson and Ryan Dzingel also scored for the Senators, who won their sixth straight. Anderson didn’t have to work hard to get his 147th victory with Ottawa and pass Patrick Lalime.

Sabres 5, Blue Jackets 3: Evander Kane scored with 2:29 remaining as Buffalo erased a 3-0 deficit to stun Columbus.

Jake McCabe, Matt Moulson, Sam Reinhart and Jack Eichel also scored for Buffalo, which ended a four-game losing streak. Robin Lehner made 24 saves after replacing Anders Nilsson to open the second period.

Bruins 2, Flyers 1: Drew Stafford’s fluke goal with 5.6 seconds left gave Boston a victory over fading Philadelphia.

Stafford’s seemingly innocent shot deflected off the Flyers’ Brandon Manning and past Steve Mason. David Pastrnak scored to extend his points streak to eight straight games for the Bruins.

Predators 3, Sharks 1: Ryan Johansen, James Neal and Viktor Arvidsson scored as Nashville ended its season-long, four-game losing streak. Backup Juuse Saros made 25 saves as the Predators maintained their hold on third place in the Central Division.

Blues 4, Islanders 3: Vladimir Tarasenko scored twice and Alexander Steen had a goal and an assist as St. Louis defeated New York.

Patrik Berglund also scored and Jaden Schwartz had two assists as the Blues won their fourth straight game. Carter Hutton made 21 saves.

Other results: Maple Leafs 3, Hurricanes 2 (OT); Lightning 3, Panthers 2; Coyotes 5, Devils 4. — Agencies
