The Consulate General of Thailand in Jeddah, together with the Thai community in the western region of Saudi Arabia, held a ceremony to mark the 50th day of the passing of King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The ceremony commenced with a special prayer by the local Thai Muslim community. Consul General Thanis Na Songkhla then delivered a speech paying tribute to the late king. This was followed by reading of essays and poems in remembrance of the late king’s achievements by Thai youths from the Thai Long Distance Learning Center in Jeddah. More than 300 Thai residents from Jeddah and Makkah attended the ceremony. A book of condolences was opened on the occasion for Thai nationals and friends of Thailand. — SG
