MADINAH — Yasir, Imran, Afzal and Mudasser excelled with the bat, while Faisal, Ayub and Ishtiyaq did well with the ball in SCC Cup 2016.
The T20 tournament is being organized by Madinah Cricket League (MCL) and sponsored by Saudi Cricket Centre (SCC).
Madinah Strikers beat Awali King by 43 runs. Ishtiyaq and Ayub put up great display of bowling and took three wickets each. Electing to bat first, Madinah Strikers posted 143-5 in 18 overs. Ishtiyaq hit 47 and Mujeeb 21. Faisal and Khalid claimed a wicket each. Awali King, in reply, collapsed and only managed 100 in 13.5 overs. Yasir made 24 and Sajid 13.
In another one-sided match, Kashmir XI thrashed MBC Stars by 62 runs (D/L method). Imran and Afzal showed class and made 102 and 99, respectively. Mansour and Saqib took 1 wicket each. In reply, MBC struggled from the start and managed 176-5 in 18.1 overs. Imran and Khurram grabbed a wicket each.
A high-scoring encounter between Pak Punjab and P.R.C.C. ended in favor of the latter. Pak Punjab put on 208-7. Faisal made 75, Arshad 53 and Nadeem 19. Arshad from P.R.C.C. took 3 wickets. Chasing the huge total, P.R.C.C. reached the target in 19.1 overs. Yasir Jutt played a blistering unbeaten innings of 123 not out off 60 balls. Zakir supported him with 55. Yasir claimed 2 wickets.
The final fixture of the week was a nail-biting encounter between Madinah Eagles and Shaheen XI. Madinah Eagles scored 224-6. Mudasser blasted 68, Zeeshan 51 and Mohsin 34. Obaid Ullah and Rafiq scalped 2 wickets each.
Shaheen XI started well with Ubaid Ullah making 57, Bilal 53 and Wajid 52. Faisal was the pick of the bowlers as he took 5 wickets. Nouman grabbed 2. In the end, Shaheen XI could manage only 212-8 in 18 overs and lost by 12 runs.
