JEDDAH — “We all are Pakistanis and we must work together for the prosperity of our beloved country Pakistan,” said Shoib Mubarak vice consular and acting consular (press) at Consulate General of Pakistan Jeddah in his address at an event hosted by Pakistan Welfare Society (PWS) recently.
He was speaking on behalf of Pakistan Consul General Shehryar Akber Khan in a function to mark the auspicious occasion of Pakistan’s 70th independence day by a leading non-political, welfare organization providing free medical camps and a wide range of social services since 2006 under the patronage of Consulate General.
Large number of PWS office bearers, members and their families, children, Consulate staff and prominent members from Pakistani and Saudi community attended the function for the commemoration of Independence Day.
Mubarak said that the consul general was unable to attend the function as he was visiting the camp of distressed Pakistani labors and workers in Taif.
He extended the consul general’s warm greetings of Independence Day to all compatriots.
“I feel pleasure that I am standing here in a function that’s being organized by a welfare society who is rendering tremendous welfare services to the community in the Kingdom as well as back home for the last one decade,” Mubarak added.
He praised the society’s frtnightly Friday Medical Camps at the Consulate, Health Awareness activities through health seminars & pamphlets, career planning seminars, educational support for deserving students, Pakistan’s Kidney Center project and ensured the consulate would continue its support in their journey.
Newly arrived welfare consular Basit Abbasi also spoke and said Pakistan is our identity. He commended the services of PWS.
Dr. Khalil-ur-Rehman, president PWS, expressed his gratitude to the Consulate support and congratulated the audience on the Idependence Day celebrations.
Syed Shehabuddin, member PWS, shed light on the history of the Pakistan movement. Poet Syed Mohsin Alvi and Sher Afzal gave a rendition of national poem and patriotic songs.
Dr. Obaid Amjad, general secretary PWS, conducted the proceedings and recalled the glowing leadership of the founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal
At the end The Independence Day cake cutting-ceremony was held.
