JAZAN — Three people were injured when the car they were travelling in plowed into a palm tree on the Sitteen Road in Jazan, Red Crescent spokesman Bishi Al-Sarkhy said. The Red Crescent pulled out the victims from the wreckage and transport them to a local hospital. All three victims sustained severe injuries but are currently recovering in hospital. A separate accident in the province on Friday left three others injured. Al-Sarkhy said a car collided with another car when he lost control of the vehicle after hitting a stray camel on Sabya-Abu Uraish Highway. The Red Crescent dispatched four teams of paramedics to the scene who treated the victims, who sustained critical to minor injuries. Those with critical injuries were transported to a local hospital for further treatment.


269 cars towed from
Dammam streets

DAMMAM — The municipality towed 269 abandoned cars from the streets in Al-Khadariyah area of Dammam. Mohammad Al-Sufyan, Dammam Municipality spokesman, said the municipality also recorded 151 other violations during an inspection campaign in the area. The campaign was meant to clear the area of visual pollution. The municipality urged citizens not to dump broken down cars or parts of vehicles in the streets. Al-Sufyan said anyone who leaves car parts on the streets for more than seven days would be slapped with fines ranging from SR200 to SR500. The municipality will seize abandoned parts and sell them if they are not claimed within three months.

Two paper warehouses
catch fire, no injuries

JEDDAH — Two warehouses storing paper for recycling in Jeddah caught fire but no injuries were reported, Civil Defense spokesman Col. Saeed Sarhan said. The fire spread rapidly through the warehouses, one of which covered an area of 2400 sq. meters. The Civil Defense is to determine the cause of the fire.

Expat arrested for
blackmailing woman

RIYADH — Police arrested an expatriate for blackmailing a Saudi woman. The woman complained to the police that an Arab expatriate was blackmailing her and threatening to post her photos on social media. The police tracked down the man and arrested him. He was handed over to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution.
