JEDDAH — The Ministry of Labor and Social Development has stopped social security payments to 393 of its employees as they were found illegible to receive financial assistance.

Electronic integration and internal auditing between departments revealed that several social welfare recipients were not qualified to receive the government assistance due to their current employment at the ministry.
Spokesman Khaled Bin Abdulaziz Abalkhail emphasized that the ministry has been working to enhance services offered to social welfare beneficiaries in and outside the ministry.

“We have started reviewing the list of eligible beneficiaries after aligning databases inside the ministry and discovered that a number of recipients were not entitled to such payments. therefore, they were halted," Abalkhail said.

The spokesman stressed that the ministry has pledged to carry out its duties and responsibilities toward all beneficiaries as well as implement regulations on everyone without exception, ensuring that social welfare benefits reach the right hands.

Meanwhile, the ministry will put eligibility requirements under scrutiny besides updating the database of the beneficiaries after Eid Al-Fitr, Abalkhail added.
