MADINAH — The Civil Defense is ready with nine groups of quick intervention emergency squads to deal with any emergency in the Prophet’s Mosque.
Madinah Civil Defense Director Col. Muhammad Al-Blewi said the Civil Defense is equipped with the latest technology.

“The Prophet’s Mosque is a holy place and one of the city’s landmarks. It is visited by thousands and millions of visitors, pilgrims and worshippers especially during high seasons such as Ramadan. Our job is to ensure the safety and security of the visitors and the people of Madinah,” said Al-Blewi.

He also said the Civil Defense has a safety plan in place for the month of Ramadan.

“Our paramedics and officers are well trained to deal with crises and emergencies that may require a mass evacuation or careful and targeted rescue missions. There are paramedics and officers placed at various points near the mosque,” said Al-Blewi.

He also said there is an emergency team in the central area of the mosque and several other teams around the mosque.

“The Civil Defense is also ready to detect fire hazards and follow preventive measures before fire breaks out in places like crowded parking spaces. The Civil Defense also has several volunteers to help and aid patients and victims in times of emergencies,” said Al-Blewi.

He said the Civil Defense responds to calls of medical emergencies, accidents, injuries or fire.

“There are marked evacuation areas such as nearby schools, hotels and apartment buildings in case of any emergency requiring an evacuation. The paramedics are visible and approachable in times of accidents or emergencies,” said Al-Blewi.
