RIYADH — Taif Airport Customs have foiled an attempt to smuggle 50,669 Captagon (Amphetamine) narcotic pills.

Customs officers found the drugs with a passenger who arrived at the airport, Saudi Press Agency reported on Saturday.

Director of Customs at Taif airport Ahmed Al-Shuwaiman said the amphetamine tablets were found during routine inspection of the baggage.

The drugs were hidden in special pockets at the bottom of two bags.

Al-Shuwaiman said smugglers try all means to smuggle into the Kingdom such contraband items, but customs officers are vigilant.
