DAMMAM — The International Indian School Dammam (IISD) had organized Annual Career Fair-2016 recently to enable students and their parents to interact with different colleges and universities for particular undergraduate courses after the schooling.
The fair was inaugurated by the Indian Ambassador Ahmad Javed, who was then introduced to the representatives of the participating institutions. Second Secretary (Political, Cultural and Information) Hifzur Rahman was also present at the inauguration function.
The Chairman of the School’s Managing Committee Dr. Abdusalam Kanniyan welcomed the dignitaries, guests and the parents. He briefed the audience about the endeavors of the school in enlightening the students about career prospects as well as preparing them for the higher studies.
While presenting the vote of thanks, the Principal and Head of the Institution Dr. E. K. Mohammed Shaffe thanked the representatives of the local and foreign educational institutions for accepting the invitation by the school and putting up their booths for providing first-hand information to parents and students about their institutions.
He urged the parents and students to take advantage of the fair and obtain as much information as they require from the representatives of the participating institutions so that they could take an informed decision.
As the number of students in the secondary and higher secondary school are over 4,000 such a fair gains a place of prominence both for the institutions and parents.
The school has been organizing Annual Career Fair for the past few years and invites renowned educational institution from other countries to participate and introduce the courses and facilities available for the students.
Around 30 educational Institutions, which included colleges and universities from the United Kingdom, Malaysia, GCC countries, Canada and India, had sent in their representatives, by far the largest number.
A large number of students along with their parents visited the booths of the institutions and got the first hand information about the courses provided by them, criteria, requirements, fee structure and other pertinent information. Despite the presence of large number of interested parents and students, the representatives were very enthusiastic and patiently answered different questions posed to them.
Mostly, the parents were concerned about the level of education of those institutions, and the fee structure. As the event was for full day, the parents found it convenient to visit the school as per their convenience.
The Indian community faces the question of higher education for their children and many find themselves in a fix over this issue as it involves keeping their children away from them or having their families shifted back home.
