JEDDAH — The Faculty of Engineering at King Abdulaziz University (KAU) organized a two-day engineering day with the support of several companies, which took part in the event to tap potential candidates for jobs from graduating students.


KAU President Professor Abdulrahman Al-Youbi inaugurated the event on Monday at King Faisal Conference Center.

The events started with a visit to the accompanying exhibition.

The KAU president said the 10th engineering day coincided with the university's 50th anniversary as well as the 40th anniversary of the Faculty of Engineering. It also saw the graduation of the first batch of female engineers from the university. He said the engineering day aims to strengthen and confirm the skills and competence of the students.

Al-Youbi urged engineering students to observe engagement and serious attendance in the programs, seminars and workshops provided during the event. He also advised them to take advantage of the professional and practical activities presented by the students in pursuit of their goals and with the aim of creating an engineering pool capable of leading the field with the utmost professional standards.

He thanked the engineering dean, faculty members and students and staff for organizing the function and for their contribution in making it successful. He specifically thanked the basic sponsors and the faculty of engineering partners such as Saudi Aramco and Sabic.

From his part, Dr. Abdulrahim Kinsara, dean of the engineering faculty, presented an overview of the recent achievements of the faculty's male and female students in local and regional contests. He also noted the recent visit of the accreditation team to the faculty of engineering, which scored 34 strong points and whose final report was without any weak points.

He drew attention to the main goal sought by the faculty, which is the betterment of the faculty graduation outcome putting the faculty graduates at the top of companies' recruitment short lists.

He noted the importance of the engineering day for the students and the current job market needs.

The events were managed by a group of students under the supervision of the faculty. It was an occasion for the students to demonstrate their creativity in taking part in various competitions. The event also provided training courses delivered by specialized cadres from the university.
All academic departments of the faculty of engineering participated.
