NAJRAN — The municipality shut down nine barber shops in several neighborhoods for health violations. Najran Municipality Comprehensive Inspection Director Abdulali Al-Makrami said the barber shops were shut down for violating various hygiene rules. Moreover, barbers and workers did not adhere to their uniforms and the tools were not properly sanitized.

BAHA — Several persons died and many others injured in accidents during the past week. Baha Red Crescent Emad Al-Zahrani said the past week has been the Gulf Traffic Week where volunteers launched a campaign to raise awareness about traffic safety. During the past week, the province had a total of six road accidents in various governorates such as Baha, Al-Sarat, Tuhama and Al-Badiyah. Meanwhile, Asir Red Crescent spokesman Ahmad Asiri said there were 104 accidents during the past week. Most of the accidents— 46 — happened last Thursday and resulted in the injury of 65 people and the death of six people. One Friday, there were 30 road accidents. The accidents resulted in the injury of 33 people and the death of one person. On Saturday, there were 28 road accidents. The accidents resulted in the death of two people and the injury of 40 people.


Used clothes stolen
from donation boxes


MADINAH — Several charity organizations withdrew their public donation boxes after their contents were allegedly stolen. Madinah Social Affairs Director Ali Al-Ghamdi said charities in Madinah have several boxes for donations of clothes and shoes around the city. On several occasions, the charity would find these boxes empty at the time of collecting their contents. After investigating the recurring incident, the charities realized that the donated clothes in the boxes was being stolen and resold in street markets. Most of the boxes are located near mosques without any guard. Expatriates working nearby would just take what is inside and sell it for their own gain. The charities are reviewing the donation process to ensure the donated clothes and items reach the needy.

20 stores shut
down in Makkah


MAKKAH — The municipality ordered 20 stores, three restaurants and a shopping center closed for multiple violations. Makkah Al-Maabidah Municipality reported it ran an inspection campaign in Jabal Al-Nour, Al-Adl and Al-Mazaar neighborhoods and parts of Al-Haj Street. The inspection campaign recorded several health and safety violations. The municipality shut down 20 stores, three restaurants and a shopping center for not adhering to its rules and regulations.
