RIYADH — The Ministry of Housing awarded on Tuesday contracts for building more than 56,000 housing units for low income people across the Kingdom.

The ministry signed cooperative agreements with 11 real estate builders to construct a total of 56,099 housing units in the provinces of Riyadh, Makkah, Hail, Tabuk and the Eastern Province, the Saudi Press Agency reported quoting a ministry statement.

The residential units will be allotted to the beneficiaries of the housing support system on specially earmarked land, the ministry has stated.
According to the ministry, the builders will make the housing units available strictly in line with the parameters specified by the ministry, and these include top quality, diverse options, reasonable price and delivery within a short span of time.

More than three-fourths of the new housing units will be constructed in Makkah province. Among the total 42,183 housing units in Makkah province, 41,998 will be built in Jeddah governorate, and 189 in Taif. These projects will be implemented by five real estate companies. Two builders have been awarded contracts to build 8,518 housing units in Riyadh region while 1,394 housing units will be constructed in Hail by two developers.

A total of 2,304 housing units will be built in the northern Tabuk region while 1,700 housing units will be built in Al-Khobar governorate in the Eastern Province.

It was specified in the agreements that the builders have to implement public utility projects and infrastructure facilities in residential neighborhoods.

The ministry said that the real estate developers will cooperate with the ministry in making available of the appropriate residential environment for citizens in terms of price, specifications and standards. “The ministry has established a service center for the developers so as to ease the procedures and remove the hurdles with regard to implementing the projects,” the statement said.
