JEDDAH — Seven Saudi fashion designers stood out in the 17th International Saudi Weddings Exhibition. Businesswoman Maha Fitaihi said the exhibition really showcased the talents and innovations of Saudi designers.
“The exhibition is one of the outlets available for Saudi designers to present their designs on an international platform. Saudi fashion designers are becoming household names in the region. Fashion designers such as Amal Angawi, Buthaina Baljoun, Lutfiyah Mominah, Lubna Shaban, Subaiha Afghani, Maisa Al-Nuwailati and Rana Riri are one of our top fashion designers,” said Fitaihi.
She also said each one of them had her own fashion boutique in the exhibition.
“I was asked to open the exhibition and the message of my opening speech was all about local pride and talent. These designers rival the international standards and must remember where they came from and represent their country well,” said Fitaihi.
Amal Angawi said the exhibition is a big collaboration between Saudi designers.
“Competition in the market is always a good thing. But collaboration can be even better. The exhibition showcased our 2016 collection. As Saudi fashion designers, we face a lot of obstacles. From the shortage of material to finding a market for us. The exhibition is a golden opportunity for us to give our designs a platform,” said Fitaihi.
