WADI AL-DAWASIR — A Pakistani worker suffered burns on various parts of his body as a result of a fire that broke out in a restaurant here on Sunday.

Wadi Al-Dawasir Public Hospital director Dr. Mubarak Al-Sharidah said the victim was brought to the hospital with 36 percent of his body affected. The fire broke out broke in a restaurant on Al-Hadid Road. The victim is slowly recovering.

Drunk Filipino stabs Indian man

WADI AL-DAWASIR, RIYADH — An allegedly drunk Filipino stabbed an Indian man after a fight broke out between the two. Wadi Al-Dawasir Police received reports from a man that his friend had been stabbed by a Filipino in his stomach. The victim was among a group of Filipinos who had gathered to drink alcohol at their residence. Paramedics found the victim on the floor injured and transported him to Wadi Al-Dawasir Hospital. The police tracked down six Filipino suspects and found 23 bottles of alcohol in their residence. The suspects were arrested and the alcohol was seized and further investigations are on.

Six blocks of hashish seized

RIYADH — Traffic police in Al-Sulayyil Governorate seized six blocks of hashish from a passenger bus. According to Al-Sulayyil Traffic Department, officers inspecting a bus that was driving through the governorate when they found a bag containing six blocks of hashish. Police used the bag's tag and corresponding passenger tickets to identify the bag's owner, an African. At first, the passenger denied that the bag was his but the ticket number proved otherwise. The passenger was arrested for smuggling drugs and his case has been forwarded to the pertinent authorities.

Drifter, accomplice arrested in Qurayyat

QURAYYAT — Traffic police arrested a car drifter and an accomplice for reckless driving and endangering citizens’ lives. Qurayyat Traffic Department director Abdulaziz Al-Biraithi said they received reports from citizens complaining about being disturbed by a drifter and his accomplice. The traffic police had to pursue the drifter as he resisted arrest and drove on the opposite side of the road.  The drifter had also crashed into the traffic police’s vehicle several times, but officers were able to arrest him and seize the car.

Boy’s head stuck in can

NAJRAN — A 10 year-old boy from Abu Arish governorate got his head stuck in a powdered milk can on Saturday. Najran Civil Defense official spokesman Yahya Al-Qahtani said paramedics transported the boy to the hospital where doctors carefully removed the can and freed his head. The boy did not sustain any injuries. — Okaz/Saudi Gazette
