Author stresses on innovative solutions to societal problems

RIYADH — Renowned author and Founder and Executive Director of World Acumen Fund, Ms Jacqueline Novo Graz, spoke about the possible visions to grant opportunities for all of those in need in the world, as well as many of the stories about the people interviewed, showing that everyone has the desire to build a better world and the application of innovative solutions to societal problems.

Ms Jacqueline, author of “The Blue Sweater,” answered many questions concerning the possible opportunities in social entrepreneurship and how to raise the concept of a sense of responsibility toward the varying challenges of everyday life.

The occasion was the hosting of a meeting by King Khalid Foundation that dealt with social entrepreneurship as a whole in Saudi Arabia. It was attended by a group of social innovators in the Kingdom and a number of non-profit organizations in support of entrepreneurial projects. Princess Albandari Abdulrahman Al-Faisal, director of the foundation, spoke of its role in supporting entrepreneurial projects, specifically its funding of the Acumen Global Fund grant for social entrepreneurship programs, with three young Saudis joining the fellowship program during the years 2011, 2012 and 2013 respectively.

Princess Albandari has addressed the modernization of the concept of social entrepreneurship in the Kingdom and the importance of having companies of financial sustainability to address social and economic problems as well as to provide innovative solutions to them. She pointed out that this type of activity is “one of the most important strategic objectives of the King Khalid Foundation, and today efforts are being intensified to support social entrepreneurship by providing technical and financial support for social entrepreneurs to start their projects with continued interest in motivating future leaders in this area by organizing and supporting supportive meetings.

Ms Jacqueline answered many questions concerning the possible opportunities in social entrepreneurship and how to raise the concept of a sense of responsibility toward the varying challenges of everyday life.

At the end of the meeting her book “The Blue Sweater” was launched. The book deals with bridging the gap between rich and poor around the globe, translated into Arabic by Jarir Bookstore, illustrating numerous ways that traditional charity activities often fail, urging dignity to be granted to the poor around the world.

The occasion  concluded with a book signing by the author.
