In the world of human resources, experts teach us how to be wise and smart so that employers like us and take us on board. There are some courses in communication skills, how to respond smartly to a question and even how to master body language so that you do not look naïve or stupid in front of your employer. Forbes Magazine described seven traits of an employer that you should be aware of when going for a job interview.
The magazine says that you are able to choose the place where you work and your employer. Therefore, if you notice that an employer has some of the seven traits, you should run and never look back because that employer is not a good one.
The first trait is lack of attention on the part of the employer. Your employer will tell you that he will call you today and never does for days on end. He promises you he will meet you, but never shows up. The second trait is a failure to fix mistakes and focusing on penalizing employees rather than remedying the situation. The third trait is lying. Some employers lie to their customers.
The fourth trait is running errands during work time, especially around lunch time. This means that the employer does not respect time. The fifth trait is that some employers do not have time to hear their employees’ problems and do not care. They are in fact telling you to get lost and say they do not care about you. The sixth trait is a monotonous routine and red-tape measures. The seventh trait is discrimination. Some employers prefer some employees over others because of race and color.
American business magnate Warren Buffet once said, “You are looking for three things, generally, in a person: Intelligence, energy and integrity. If they do not have the last one, do not even bother with the first two.”
