TAIF — Statistics released by the Ministry of Justice about marriage contracts revealed that there was a growing tendency among Saudis to marry non-Saudis.
It said half of the marriage contracts signed between Saudis and non-Saudis in the Kingdom last year were between Saudi men and Yemeni women. The Yemenis were followed by Syrian and Palestinian women.
The figures indicated that Kuwaitis topped foreigners who took Saudi brides. The Makkah region ranked top in marriages between Saudis and other nationalities.
The statistics also revealed that 27.8 percent of marriages last year ended in divorce. The Riyadh region came first in divorces with 39.9 percent of marriages followed by Makkah with 22.7 percent.
