RIYADH — Six people were rescued from fire in Al-Jaradiyah District of Riyadh. Capt. Mohammad Al-Mahmady, Riyadh Civil Defense spokesman, said the operations room received reports that a house was on fire. The fire started in the ground floor of the two-story building. Firefighters who broke into the house saved six people who were trapped inside before extinguishing the fire. The victims were in good health. Meanwhile, five members of a Yemeni family were injured in a fire in Yanbu. Col. Khalid Al-Jihani, Civil Defense spokesman in Madinah province, said the fire broke out in a four-story residential building in Ali Bin Abu Talib neighborhood. The firemen evacuated all residents of the building and extinguished the fire. A man and his three children suffered from smoke inhalation and the children's mother sustained second-degree burns. The victims were taken to Yanbu General Hospital.

robbed in separate cases
ARAR — Two young men robbed two gas station workers after assaulting them in two separate incidents. Northern Borders Police spokesman Col. Uwaidh Al-Enizi said in the first case two men in their 20s assaulted a gas station worker, stabbed him with a sharp object and stole the money he had. A similar incident was reported at another gas station. Police arrested the suspects and forwarded the case to the pertinent authorities.

Bisha issued warning
ABHA — The Asir Labor Office issued warning notices to 13 stores for multiple violations in Bisha governorate. Hussain Al-Marie, director general of the labor office, said his officers ran an inspection campaign on women retail stores. The campaign was focusing on feminization of women stores. The campaign inspected 22 stores and recorded violations in 13 of them.
Gang of four arrested
for burglary, assault
MAKKAH — Police arrested four members of a gang for multiple crimes. Makkah Police spokesman Col. Ati Al-Qurashi said the four men allegedly broke into a family’s home, stole valuables, threatened family members with a weapon and assaulted the head of the family and his wife. The gang consisted of three Saudi men and an Asian accomplice. Meanwhile, police busted a gang of thieves who were involved in several cases of burglary in Al-Jouf. Col. Turki Al-Muwaishir, spokesman for Al-Jouf Police, said they received several theft complaints, which led the police to form an investigative committee. The thieves targeted pharmacies, gas stations, expatriate residences and retail stores. The police identified one of the gang members as an illegal Arab expatriate who robbed a pharmacy in Sakaka. The police also arrested a Saudi man for robbing the residence of several expatriate workers.
