DUBAI — Dubai Autodrome hosted its first race of the 2015-16 NGK Racing Series season recently on the National Circuit configuration, with a full program of racing, including championship races for NGK Racing Series, UAE Sportbikes Formula Gulf 1000 and Radical Middle East Cup.

The NGK Racing Series had its opening round at Yas Marina Circuit a couple of weeks ago, and round two took place at the home track of the championship.

Saudi driver Al-Qassim Hamidaddin, who missed the first round in Abu Dhabi, took part in Round 2 in Dubai and secured two victories in Class 2 of the NGK Race Series.

Driving for Q Racing team in his Honda FD2 racecar, Al-Qassim started the first race in fifth position and was able to take the lead midway through the second lap and hold off the competition to win his class ahead of British drivers Will Morrison and Simon Dennis.

In the second race, Al-Qassim started first in his class and led all the way to the checkered flag to secure his second win of the weekend finishing again in front of British drivers Simon Dennis and Will Morrison who traded places for 2nd and 3rd.

Entering his first season of the NGK Race Series, Al-Qassim was ecstatic about the results from his first two races in the championship and is looking forward to the next rounds. “I praise God for these great results and thank my sponsors Petromin and 3M for their continued support, and hope to continue collecting points for the championship. I missed the first two races in round one in Abu Dhabi and need to continue achieving good results in the next rounds to fight for the championship,” he said.

Al-Qassim praised the Dubai Autodrome and the NGK Racing Series as one of the best championships he has been involved with. He said: “I would like to thank and congratulate the staff at Dubai Autodrome for organizing the NGK Racing Series as it is one of the most enjoyable championships to race in. The support race car drivers receive from the organizers brings out the best in us and enables us to focus on racing.”

The NGK Racing Series will have five more rounds this season, and will continue in January 29-30, 2016, for round three at Dubai Autodrome.
