• Salman Khan’s latest film “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” smashed the record for the biggest Bollywood opening of all time, taking $27M over the four-day weekend. That puts the movie in the coveted 100 crore ($15M) club which it joined after just three days. It is one of four films to cross the benchmark in such a short time; those four include Khan’s ownBhajrangi Bhaijaan from earlier this year.

• SXMusic is a brand new, boutique electronic music festival set to unfold in March 2016 on the beautiful Caribbean island of St. Martin. In a crowded global festival market, this carefully conceived, five-day event in a dreamlike location promises a unique, unforgettable experience for those lucky enough to enjoy it. Jamie Jones, Dubfire, DJ Tennis, Lee Burridge, Adriatique, Patrick Topping, Thugfucker, Blond:ish, Francesca Lombardo and Psychemagik complete the first wave of artists. More acts to be announced soon.

• Snowbombing, the worlds number 1 music festival on snow, has revealed another stellar selection of acts for the 2016 edition, which takes place from 4-9 April in Austria. From house and techno, to grime, punk and everything in between, SB16 is shaping up to be one of the best editions to date.

Organized by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) in partnership with Design Creationz, the 8th edition of the Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition concluded successfully this week. Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition, Qatar’s largest and leading fashion destination showcased modern and high-quality Arabian and Islamic designs. Nearly 300 fashion designers and leading industry experts from Qatar, the GCC, Europe, and Southeast Asia participated in this year’s lineup of 23 unique and varied programs. With daily fashion shows, high profile fashion forums, lecture series, hands on workshops, and various social programs, the 8th Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition proved to be a captivating and engaging edition.

• Eurosonic Noorderslag has extended its line-up with no less than 116 new and promising acts. The combi-tickets and tickets for Dutch showcase Noorderslag are sold out. There are still tickets available for the conference and Eurosonic, the showcase festival for European music.

04• Abu Dhabi Art presents a series of stimulating talks and panel discussions by some of the art world’s leading figures, which will engage audiences in a discourse about the complex contemporary art scene in the UAE. Abu Dhabi Art’s Bliss is a programme of live and interactive performances curated by Fabrice Bousteau and inspired by the context and dynamism of the city of Abu Dhabi. The concept will include screenings of JR’s exceptional film Les Bosquets, featuring the New York City Ballet, and well-known artists including Pharrell Williams, Hans Zimmer and Lil Buck. Abu Dhabi Art Beyond is a platform that brings large-scale artworks by world-renowned artists out into the city and engages with Abu Dhabi’s diverse communities on the ground. Installations include artworks by Pascale Marthine Tayou (Galleria Continua), Martin Creed (Hauser and Wirth), Farhad Moshiri (The Third Line), Jack Pierson (Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac), Yue Minjun (Enrico Navarra), Hassan Sharif (Gallery Isabelle van den Eynde), Romuald Hazoum (October Gallery), Halim Al Karim (Galerie Brigitte Schenk), Peter Gentenaar (Salwa Zeidan Gallery), Sarah Al Haddad (AB Gallery), Julio Le Parc (Bugada & Cargnel), James Welling (David Zwirner), Babak Alebrahim Dehkordi & Peyman Barabadi (Galerie GP & N Vallois), Pipilotti Rist (Hauser & Wirth), Xu Longsen (Hanart TZ Gallery). Abu Dhabi Art is located at Manarat Al Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi. Entrance will be complimentary. However, online registration is required as available seats for talks and performances are limited.

• Following a massively successful event in 2014, together with Retox Sessions and Contango, 808 Festival is proud to announce its return on Wednesday December 9th, 2015. The event will once again take place at the BITEC Convention Centre in Bangkok, Thailand with doors opening at 5pm. Last year saw 808 Festival in Thailand expand to include the addition of a second stage and a lineup that included more underground music, and the event returns this year with the same format but boasting a star-studded lineup that is jam-packed with Grammy nominated producers and the electronic dance music industry’s biggest DJs.

• Saudi Arabia artist Ayman Zedani’s second solo exhibition ‘flatland’ will run until November 30 at Naila Art Gallery in Riyadh. The exhibition centers on architecturally dynamic paper work that broadcast the intimate and explorative process of creation and showcase the variable nature of perspective. — Compiled by Mariam Nihal
