HAIL — A number of girl schools in Hail have established special sports facilities including physical fitness clubs on their premises. The news comes less than 72 hours after Education Minister Azzam Al-Dakhil's statement that sports in girl schools would not be made mandatory.

The department of girls education in the region has set up sports clubs in five district schools for girls.

The clubs provide sports programs for physical fitness, weight loss, nutrition and other activities.

The clubs were established inside a number of intermediate and secondary girl schools and were supplied with sports equipment for students to use.

The clubs also include playgrounds for children, coffee shops, walking areas, reading corners and meeting places for women.

They also feature health care programs, cultural competitions, tourist picnics, classes for the memorization of the Qur'an and many other activities.

The clubs also provide courses on English language, computer skills, painting, mathematics and cosmetics.
