“Stop – Motion – Picture” is not a new terminology, but it is not popular as compared to other form of media. ‘Stop Motion’ is also referred to as ‘Stop action’ and it is considered as one of the very first special techniques ever invented.
It is an animation technique or an ‘illusion’ for a layman to comprehend which makes a lifeless object or persona to appear to move on its own.
The object is moved in small intervals between photographed frames creating an illusion of movement when pictures are played continuously.
The pictures are identical, but the action keeps changing in the scene. When these images are flashed up fast around 10 per seconds, the brain sees them as single picture with movements. Earlier movies and television worked with this technique and creating motion pictures and cartoons.
It definitely sounds like a hard work, but there are many who follow this arduous passion to create exceptional piece of art.
Husam Hashim Kamil, 29 is one of those rare, passionate and talented creators of ‘Stop Motion Picture’ with ‘Action Figures’. He holds a bachelors degree in Information Management and works as a Purchasing Administrator.
“Three years ago, I watched a lot of videos about action figures stop motion; it was so brilliant and perfect. I wished to do something like it then.”
“Well, first of all the video game name METAL GEAR SOLID is the reason I got into it. It’s my best game ever especially the story.”
Kamil told his story to Saudi Gazette. “In 2012, I found the action figures for METAL GEAR SOLID, and I bought some of them.
I was excited to make my own stop motion, but I have no idea how to do it, or what kind of program to use. It needed a lot of time to create, and it was not easy at all. So I asked myself to forget it as it was just a dream.”
Husam went on with the usual life. He liked playing Football and video games, in addition to watching Anime, collect figures, and making several videos.
As the saying goes that the fire of passion is not easy to extinguish, Kamil gave his dreams a second chance.
“I watched another stop motion video and decided to do a simple test, surprisingly it worked somehow. Later, ideas came to me one by one, did research on various programs, and found the one suitable to my need. One step at a time, I found myself finishing the video.
It felt really great when I finished it, and it was hard to believe that I did.”
Kamil has completed a 2 part series of Metal Gear Solid- action figures in around 17 months by his hard work and continuous support of family.
“They didn’t expect me doing something like it. It was a complete surprise for them and they loved it.” He received a tremendous response from friends, family and other action figure fans.
He works on his hobby during his free time. “It’s about my time and the mode when I do it. I’m not planning to finish the series. It’s an open project.”
He believes nothing is impossible. No doubt artist of his kind has a long road to travel. As for the future of his talent, he is not aware how it will do in the Saudi Market, but promises to continue if time allows and ideas excite him.
“I hope the director of MEATL GEAR SOLID, might one day watch my videos and tell me about them if they are good or not . I’m interested about his opinion; this is what I’m thinking as for right now.”
