JEDDAH — The Lebanese Consulate honored the head of the country’s Haj mission Khaled Kabbani at a lunch last week. The event, hosted by Consul General Ziad Atallah, was attended by Sheikh Mazen Batterjee, vice president of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Lebanese businessmen and community members.

Atallah welcomed Kabbani and praised his efforts and commitment to visit all locations where Lebanese pilgrims were staying in Arafat, Muzdalifah and Mina. Kabbani also thanked Atallah for his initiative to accompany him in his visits to the pilgrims in their tents.

Kabbani said: “I extend my sincere thanks, gratitude and appreciation to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and his wise government for their great interest and concern offered to Lebanon and its Muslim pilgrims.

“Lebanon and the Lebanese people used to always receive care and concern from the Kingdom in both good and bad times and also in peace and in war.

“The latest generous endowment from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Lebanese army is the best example of the deep and sincere support from the Kingdom to Lebanon, its government and people and for our stability, independence, sovereignty and dignity. “The relations between the two countries and between the two peoples will only move toward more stability and brotherhood.”

He also praised the contribution of the Kingdom in ending the war in Lebanon through the Taif agreement that resulted in peace and welfare for all Lebanese. Kabbani commended the facilities that the Kingdom offered to the pilgrims. He congratulated King Abdullah and government officials involved in organizing Haj on the success of the pilgrimage season.
