Saudi Arabia elected to represent Asia at global anti-doping body

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia, along with China, has been elected to represent Asia in the Foundation Board of the International Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). The 38-member Foundation Board is WADA's highest decision-making body. It is composed equally of representatives from the Olympic Movement and governments of the world. Members are appointed by their respective constituency groups. Commenting on the development, the head of the Saudi Arabian anti-Doping committee, Dr. Mohammed Saleh Al-Qanbaz, extended thanks and appreciation to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman for their continuous support to Saudi sports. The election reflects the value and position the Kingdom enjoys as the only Arab representative of the Asian continent. Dr. Al-Qanbaz pointed out that such an achievement is proof of the Kingdom’s attention and support for all Saudi experts and specialists, and the keenness to have a permanent presence in international organizations and bodies related to the sports, especially with regard to combating the scourge of doping.
