ISLAMABAD — The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan has crossed 10,000 as 320 people in the province of Sindh tested positive on Wednesday. A total of 10,069 cases have been reported from across the country so far. According to the government’s COVID-19 website, 209 people have succumbed to the deadly virus so far, whereas 2,156 people have recovered. The two most populous provinces — Punjab and Sindh — have witnessed the highest number of cases. Doctors and experts have claimed that the rise in these cases can be attributed to more number of tests being carried out every day. Meanwhile, doctors have slammed the government's decision to allow prayers in mosques. In a report carried by Dawn newspaper, Dr Qaiser Sajjad, secretary general of the Pakistan Medical Association, has said the government and ulema have shown non-seriousness in taking the wrong decision of allowing congregational prayers in mosques. In another development, Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) announced that it has taken actions to help rural farmers affected by Covid-19 outbreak in Sindh. In a statement released on its website, FAO stated that in light of the current challenges faced by livestock farmers — both men and women — a livestock farmer field school (LFFS) was set up in Umerkot district of Sindh province bringing together small-scale livestock procedures. — Agencies
