Saudi executed for torturing toddler son to death in Jouf

SAKAKA — A Saudi man was beheaded in the northern Al-Jouf province Tuesday for torturing and beating his two-year-old boy to death, the Interior Ministry announced.

Maqbul Bin Madi Al-Sharari hit his son Mohammed "repeatedly with a cane on the back of his head and the rest of his body," the ministry said in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency.

He also punched the toddler in the face repeatedly and "burned him in different parts of his body, torturing him several times, which led to his death," the ministry said.

Also on Tuesday, a Saudi national was executed in the northern city of Qurayyat for practicing black magic and sorcery, SPA reported.

Muhammad Bakur Al-Alaawi confessed to his crime and the death sentence was upheld by the Appeals Court and the Supreme Judiciary Council.

The authorities announced on Monday a Saudi convicted for killing his wife with a knife while she was asleep was executed in Yanbu on Monday.

Hamd Al-Ahmadi was arrested and referred to the general court, which reviewed the case and issued its sentence.

The verdict was upheld by the Appeals Court and the High Court and a royal directive was issued to implement the sentence.

In its statement, the Ministry of Interior stressed that the government will continue to maintain security and crack down on criminals who try to destabilize the security situation in the country.
