JEDDAH – Some private hospitals in Jeddah have refused to admit three cases suspected of having coronavirus until SR10,000 were deposited in advance to cover medical services, the Makkah Arabic language newspaper reported on Saturday.

The hospitals raised the prices of one night hospitalization to SR5,000, which cover routine medical procedures, respiratory devices, and isolation room services. Medical sources told Makkah daily that a private hospital has recently admitted a coronavirus patient and demanded SR5,000 per day.

The sources said some hospitals refused a few cases because the families could not afford to pay the high amount as security payment. – SG
